To prevent captured ferrous contaminants from being washed off from oncoming product, a trapping face is chosen during the design process. A trapping face is a tapered step on the magnets working surface. This trap is placed in a position of north and south which creates a magnetic flux that captures ferrous contaminants to the underside of the trap where they are safely held onto – hence with the magnetized area of the plate covering the entire width of the trapping side to prevent wash off from oncoming product.
BJ Magnets takes steps in considering the importance of the suspension height of the magnet face relatively to the bottom of the material burden. This information helps with the adequate selection of the Plate Magnet strength; which can be customized to optimize the expected performance, taking into consideration the various depth product streams. The shallower the product stream, the better the separation results will be.
Heavy duty factory fabricated hinges, handle, and locking latches are also provided for simple installation and maintenance.
APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets consist of permanent magnet which are embedded within a flat plate to creates a strong magnetic field to which ferrous metals are attracted. The steel plate supports the magnets and provides structural integrity, with a frame surrounding the plate as an added protection. This is especially helpful when installing this type of magnetic separator equipment on a flat surface.
Designs are bespoke, featuring customized magnetic field strength of up to 14 000 Gauss, and can also be manufactured with capability to withstand temperature of up to 200°C – which is suitable for use in industries such as (but not limited to):
| Food Processing | Bulk Handling | Biomass |
| Mining and Mineral Processing | Aggregate | Pulp & Paper |
| Recycling | Cement | Wood Processing |
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnet is used in industrial related fields thanks to its super powerful rare earth magnets embedded inside, which ensure a clean end product as it extract tramp metal from free-flowing products such as grains, pellets, powders, wood, and aggregate. These magnets can easily retrofit into your existing chutes or conveyors – insofar custom design is built according to your existing system, which will definitely work for your particular application.
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnet will prolong the life of your existing equipment in terms of reducing the wear and tear from errant metals. Installed before a chute-feeder or in the base of an inclined gravity feed chute for an efficient extraction of ferrous metals not only from powder or granular materials – but also, downstream processing facilities will be under continuous magnetic protection since BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets can lift ferrous tramps out of the product flow stream.
Designed to the client’s requirements, the BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnet is manufactured to fit the existing lines and more so-saying can be supplied with the relevant mountings for an easy installation. With an easy access for the regular cleaning; the magnet is manufactured in respect of the principles of the HACCP standards.
Installing the BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnet at your processing facility will guarantee uptime increase and reduce maintenance costs while providing metal free products with peace of mind.
- Ideal for free-flowing powders and granules.
- Very useful for food ingredients and plastics industries.
- Manufactured to food industry required grade standard, which is 100% austenitic stainless steel 304 or 316; with high effectiveness and consistent performance.
- Bespoke manufactured to your dimensions specification, hence in correspondence to your expected solution needs.
The BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnet strength standard is up to 14,000 Gauss, and can also come in easy-cleaning style if desired. Our team of experts will assess your needs and ensure you receive the adequate equipment suitable for your application, in which case it will be custom-built to easy install at your infrastructure, hence meeting your specific needs and exceeding your expectations.
Plate Magnets are manufactured in an encased food grade stainless steel with options of 4000, or 6000 to 7000 Gauss on the contact surface or higher strength of 8000 to 10000, or even to 14000 Gauss on the contact surface; hence depending on the type of products or the performance expectancy requirements. Installed in the base of an inclined gravity feed chute for an efficient extraction of ferrous metals from powder or granular materials; a Plate Magnet is usually fitted on a conveyor belt before a chute-feeder.

To prevent captured ferrous contaminants from being washed off from incoming product, a trap face design should be chosen. A trap face is a tapered step on the magnets working surface. This trap is placed at a position such that magnetic fields that cause captured ferrous contaminants are drawn to the underside of the trap where they are safely held on to, preventing wash off from oncoming product. It is also important to note that the magnetic area of a Plate Magnet should cover the entire width of the spout it is protecting. |

BJ Magnets is ISO 9001:2015 certified company by SABS for Quality Management System. All our Magnetic Separator Equipment are designed, manufactured and supplied under observation of the principles of the HACCP International Food Safety Standard 0909MAGSEP 1-2010. Moreso, to the bargain of their effectiveness, the internal and external aspect of the magnetic equipment is produced according to the food health and safety standard in terms of the building materials; which is austenitic stainless steel of grade 304 or 316. Thereof upon completion, a certificate of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) which is valid for 12 months is issued; in which case the equipment shall not be subjected to the anual validation.
